My name is Kornél András Pópa, and I am a conceptual Fine Art photographer.

My love for photography began in childhood, when my parents gave me my first camera, a Smena. At the time, I had no idea that this small gift would eventually grow into one of the defining passions of my life.

After a long break, I returned to photography with the arrival of compact digital cameras. About eight years ago, I purchased my first more advanced camera, marking the beginning of a new chapter. Through independent study, continuous learning and experimentation, I began exploring the world of conceptual portraiture and Fine Art photography.

I don’t have a traditional photography studio. Most of my work is created in the living room of my apartment on the eighth floor, where I have established my own small creative space. My models are often friends and acquaintances who help me bring my ideas to life. For me, it’s not the surroundings that matter most, but the idea, the atmosphere and the human presence.

My work revolves around human emotions, personal stories and the deeper layers of life. I enjoy telling stories through symbols, light and shadow, often leaving the meaning of an image open to interpretation rather than making it immediately obvious. I believe that a truly meaningful artwork does more than simply show something – it also raises questions in the mind of the viewer.

For me, the creative process doesn’t end with taking the photograph. Post-processing is an equally important part of shaping the story. I enjoy experimenting, discovering new techniques and exploring digital tools beyond traditional photo editing, including artificial intelligence. I don’t see these tools as replacements for creative vision, but rather as new possibilities for bringing it to life. The starting point is always my own idea, which I gradually develop into the image I originally envisioned.

Over the past years, I have participated in numerous international photography competitions and exhibitions, including competitions associated with FIAP, PSA, GPU and WPE. My work has received gold, silver and bronze medals, as well as various awards and distinctions. These achievements are valuable acknowledgements of my efforts and continue to inspire me to create.

For me, photography is an ongoing journey, where every new image represents a new thought, a new story and another opportunity to reveal something of the world that lives within me.
